Spring 2007
During April, 2007, CAMP sent out its national survey to the CEPH-accredited MPH Programs in order to assess the characteristics of the programs in terms of candidate demographics, current curriculum and practicum experiences and their alignment with public health content areas and competencies, traditional versus distance education formats, program graduates, and faculty-related information. An executive summary of aggregate data findings will be made available to the membership and others.
Additionally, CAMP was represented at the 2007 Leaders-to-Leaders Conference for partnership development sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was a co-sponsor of the Health Education Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C, during March 3-5, 2007, and continues with representation on the National Transition Task Force on Accreditation in Health Education.
We coordinate our planning and activities through monthly conference calls and in-person meetings at major conferences. Importantly, there will be an in-person meeting of the CAMP membership on Friday, June 8th, 7:15-8:15am at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel during the 2007 CDC/DHPE National Conference and SOPHE Mid-year Scientific Conference. CAMP continues to advocate for the accredited MPH programs to have a greater voice in matters affecting professional preparation, credentialing, and professional development, many times through direct representation, as noted above.
As with any organization that seeks to make a difference, its vibrancy and impact is driven by the members. The current 27 accredited MPH programs that comprise the membership are fully committed to preparing skilled public health practitioners, while advocating for greater opportunities for collaboration, networking, and sustainability.
Together we continue to make a difference in professional preparation, credentialing, and professional development. I encourage you to join us in making a difference.
Sincerely,
Gary D. Gilmore, MPH, PhD, CHES President gilmore.gary@uwlax.edu 608-785-8163
